Pat McAfee, who was co-hosting the segment, found himself momentarily unable to speak as the chants of “F* Lane Kiffin” grew in volume. Recovering from the surprise, McAfee remarked: “OK … that wasn’t what I was thinking! It’s certainly what a lot of them are thinking!”
The Background of the Departure
This weekend's matchup between Ole Miss and the LSU Tigers was Kiffin's first time back at the venue since his controversial exit. Kiffin, 51, vacated his position as head coach in November 2025, just as the team was preparing for its maiden appearance in the College Football Playoff following an impressive 11-1 regular season.
At the time of his departure, Kiffin expressed a desire to remain with the team through the postseason, but he stated his request was rejected by athletic director Keith Carter. Kiffin later reflected on the transition, telling sources that he has since re-evaluated how the situation was managed:
“I look at things always now, like, how could I have done them better? But it’s also easier when you’re further removed. There’s no emotion involved.”

She recently addressed the appearance of derogatory banners around campus that targeted her personally. Landry criticized the behavior, stating that reducing an individual to a target of sexualized jokes is unacceptable:
“I understand emotions are high this week and people are upset, but I am my own person. I’ll just never understand how someone can feel good about themselves putting such vulgar things about a girl on a giant banner hanging from their house. I feel like that’s really mind-blowing to me.”
