New York Knicks standout Jalen Brunson is gearing up to host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, though the athlete candidly admits he might be unprepared for the unpredictable nature of the iconic late-night show.

During an appearance on Tamron Hall alongside his parents, Rick and Sandra Brunson, the 30-year-old basketball star was questioned about his readiness for the challenges of the NBC production. “Probably not,” Brunson admitted. “I’m being honest with you: I have no idea what I’m walking into, but I know it’s going to turn out great.”

Talents and Expectations

While Brunson played coy about whether he would showcase his vocal abilities during the opening monologue, he was slightly more optimistic regarding the possibility of dancing. When pressed on the topic, he noted, “I’m not gonna say no to that. Maybe.”

Brunson is set to lead the episode on Saturday, September 26, featuring musical guest KATSEYE. This appearance marks a historic milestone as he becomes the first New York Knicks player to host the legendary program, which is entering its 52nd season. He joins an elite circle of NBA legends who have previously held the hosting role, including Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Bill Russell, and Charles Barkley.

Confidence from Peers and Past Success

Despite his lack of experience in sketch comedy, the point guard has the backing of SNL alum and devoted Knicks fan Pete Davidson. In a video message played during the interview, Davidson expressed his full faith in the player who helped lead the team to a historic title victory.

Brunson is no stranger to silencing skeptics. Throughout his career, he has faced doubt—most notably during the 2018 NBA Draft, where critics suggested he lacked the physical stature to succeed at the professional level. Refusing to engage with his detractors then or now, Brunson remains focused on his performance.
