A Public Response to Government Criticism

Chuck Lorre, the 73-year-old creator of The Big Bang Theory, has publicly addressed a recent jab from the White House. Following his vocal criticism of Donald Trump, the administration suggested that the television producer should “seek psychiatric help.”

Lorre utilized the closing vanity card of the Thursday, October 8, episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage to deliver his retort. In the message, he wrote: “A spokesperson for the White House recently announced that I need psychiatric help. I don’t disagree.”

Lorre’s Humorous Take on Mental Health

Continuing his response with his signature dry wit, Lorre shared his perspective on the suggestion, noting his aversion to extreme measures:

“I’m not a big fan of mood-altering drugs or electroshock therapy, you know, Cuckoo’s Nest stuff, but I would be up for a chat with a trained professional who gently encourages me to seek out childhood experiences that negatively impact my thinking and behavior.”

After jokingly suggesting several potential roots for his purported mental state, he concluded with a dose of sarcasm: “Regardless of how we proceed, I do appreciate this very public concern for my mental health. It’s comforting to know my government is looking out for me.”

The Origin of the Conflict

The tension began on September 26, during the Project Angel Food charity gala in Los Angeles. While accepting the Founders Award, Lorre delivered a scathing critique of the former president, using harsh language to describe Trump and referencing his alleged associations with Jeffrey Epstein.

In response to the speech, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle issued a sharp rebuke, stating that Lorre should “immediately seek psychiatric help to treat his severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted his peanut-sized brain.”
