A Memorable Meeting
During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, 56-year-old Carson Kressley reflected on a cherished memory involving the late music legend Dolly Parton. When asked about their experience presenting an award together at the 2004 CMT Flameworthy Awards, Kressley admitted it was their first time crossing paths.
"I had never met her before," Kressley shared during the program. He explained that at the time, his show Queer Eye was at the height of its popularity, leading to his unexpected invitation to the country music event. He jokingly noted that his extensive collection of Western-themed clothing made him feel right at home at the ceremony.
Paying Tribute to a Legend
Kressley revealed that he deliberately chose his stage outfit as "an homage to Dolly." Following Parton's passing in August, Kressley took to Instagram to honor the icon by sharing a sentimental photo from that night.
In his social media tribute, Kressley expressed his admiration for the singer:
"Missing her but happy I got to know her! ... It’s a Polaroid from the very first time we met in 2004. Dolly and I presented a category together. What a joy, honor and a thrill that was!"
Remembering an Icon
Dolly Parton, a celebrated singer, songwriter, actress, and philanthropist, was widely admired for more than just her musical talent. A representative for the star noted at the time of her passing that her impact extended far beyond her art:
"A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth and kindness that made us all feel like family."
