A Long-Awaited Comeback
Brittany Mahomes has expressed her joy and relief as her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, makes his return to professional football. The star athlete is back at training camp following a challenging recovery from a season-ending ACL injury sustained during the 2025-2026 season.
On Saturday, July 25, Brittany took to her Instagram Stories to share footage of Patrick arriving at the team's facility. Accompanying the video, the 30-year-old wrote, «Seeing him back doing what he loves. So thankful.»
The Road to Recovery
Patrick’s injury significantly altered the Chiefs' previous season, keeping him off the field for the final stretch and contributing to the team missing the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. Following the injury, the quarterback underwent ACL surgery and spent the offseason focused on a rigorous rehabilitation program.
During a press conference held on Friday, July 24, Patrick discussed his current status, noting that his primary objective was to reach full participation by the start of training camp. «That’s the goal to be able to practice when we get to training camp, and we hit that next step,» he explained. «Now, it’s gonna be about building and keep getting better and better, so that whenever the regular season comes around, I can try to be available and ready to play.»
Medical Clearance and Future Outlook
The star quarterback confirmed that he received official medical clearance to resume practice just two days prior to the start of camp. According to Patrick, his doctors were satisfied with the metrics he demonstrated during his physical evaluations.
Reflecting on his return, Patrick emphasized that his journey is far from over:
«It’s still good to be out there and have bodies around and be able to run the offense. This is just another checkpoint on the schedule. You have to continue to work and get better and better and go through all practice, prove to the coaches and prove to the doctors and everybody that I’m the same quarterback I was, if not better.»
While the preseason offers a chance to acclimate, Patrick remains focused on the long-term goal of the regular season. He noted that while he is naturally competitive and wants to play immediately, the final decision regarding his game-day participation rests with the medical and coaching staff.
