The Future of Every Year After

Following the official renewal of Every Year After for a second season, fans are eager to understand how the cast will adapt to the shift in narrative focus. Based on the novel by Carley Fortune, the series explores the lives of Percy (Sadie Soverall) and the Florek brothers, Sam (Matt Cornett) and Charlie (Michael Bradway), against the backdrop of their childhood vacations in Barry’s Bay.

While the series remains faithful to the core themes and emotional tone of the source material, the transition into the second season promises significant changes. As actress Aurora Perrineau, who portrays Percy’s friend Chantal, noted regarding the adaptation process:

«I think there’s less of things changing and more of things just being added. But I think you’re getting the actual bones of the book and the love story. I think all of the themes and the tone are the same.»

Narrative Shifts and Returning Stars

Carley Fortune has expressed enthusiasm about the direction of the new season, particularly regarding the integration of elements from her subsequent novel, One Golden Summer. Below is the expected status of the primary cast members:

  • Sadie Soverall (Percy): Expected to return to the series, though she will step back from her role as the primary central character.
  • Matt Cornett (Sam): Will reprise his role as Sam; however, like Soverall, his character will no longer occupy the lead narrative position.
  • Michael Bradway (Charlie): Stepping into the spotlight, Bradway has been established as the lead for the second season. His character arc, which deals with the aftermath of his onscreen heart attack, will draw heavily from the sequel novel.
  • Aurora Perrineau (Chantal): Expected to continue her role in the upcoming season.
  • Joseph Chiu (Jordie): Confirmed to return, with his character currently entangled in his own romantic dilemma.
