A dog-walking trail at Weald Country Park in Essex has been officially named after television personality Pete Wicks. The route was unveiled by Explore Essex, part of Essex County Council, near Brentwood.
Wicks, 37, known for appearances on 'The Only Way is Essex' and 'Strictly Come Dancing', is a dedicated Dogs Trust ambassador. At the trail launch, he described the honor as both "embarrassing" and monumental, comparing it to being knighted.
He emphasized the importance of dog walking in his life and praised the convenience of a pre-planned route. Wicks is a prominent advocate for animal welfare, using his platform to promote dog adoption and responsible ownership.
Park manager Ricky Hooper noted the inspiration drawn from Wicks's work in raising mental health awareness, highlighting the positive impact of walks in nature. Wicks has volunteered for animal charities for over a decade, including missions with Humane Society International.
Off-screen, he lives with his two rescue French bulldogs. The new trail is designed to be a safe and accessible path for all walkers and their dogs.
