Federal Charges Filed in Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot
A New Jersey resident has been indicted on federal charges following an elaborate and failed attempt to orchestrate the murders of her former boyfriend and his teenage daughter. Jaclyn Diiorio, 28, is accused of seeking a contract killer to execute the plot, according to information released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Details of the Alleged Conspiracy
According to federal investigators, the scheme began to take shape in the spring of 2025. Following the end of her relationship with her 53-year-old ex-partner—who serves as a Philadelphia police officer—Diiorio allegedly began using her mobile phone to coordinate the assassination of the man and his 19-year-old daughter.
Reports indicate that Diiorio connected with a man via the dating application Tinder, whom she then solicited to carry out the killings. She allegedly offered the individual a total of $12,000 to commit the crimes. On April 4, 2025, she met the prospective hitman in Gloucester Township, where she provided a $500 cash down payment as part of the agreement.
“The indictment alleges that, from about March 30, 2025, to about April 5, 2025, in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey, Diiorio used and caused another to use a facility of interstate commerce, that is, a cellular phone, with intent that the murders of Person #1 and Person #2 be committed, in exchange for money,” federal prosecutors stated.
Legal Proceedings and Next Steps
Diiorio was initially arrested in 2025 on state charges, including two counts of first-degree attempted murder. However, with the transition of the case to federal jurisdiction, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has ceased its local proceedings. The federal indictment charges her with two counts of using interstate commerce facilities to facilitate a murder-for-hire plot.
Her defense attorney, Robert Gamburg, stated that his client plans to enter a plea of not guilty during her upcoming detention hearing, which is slated for September 14. Diiorio remains in custody pending the hearing. If found guilty, she could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.
