Details of the Violent Incident

Authorities in Missouri have apprehended a man identified as Nicholas Geary, born in 2006, following a severe domestic violence confrontation. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect allegedly shot his pregnant partner in the back after a history of verbal threats.

Law enforcement officials stated that the victim reported persistent harassment in the days preceding the attack. According to the official press release, the victim claimed that Geary had repeatedly voiced his desire to target her stomach due to her pregnancy. On the day of the shooting, these threats escalated into physical violence, during which the suspect allegedly struck her in the stomach before discharging a firearm into her back.

Legal Proceedings and Victim Statement

Following the shooting, Geary contacted emergency services, claiming that the act was committed in self-defense. However, during the investigation, he allegedly confessed to firing multiple shots at the victim. Court documents further allege that Geary had previously made explicit comments about his intent to

“shoot her in the stomach to kill the baby, and then shoot her in the head.”

Although the victim, who was treated at a local hospital for her gunshot wound, initially expressed a desire not to pursue charges, investigators determined that formal intervention was mandatory. The affidavit states that due to the

“escalating violence between the domestic partners, it is the belief of the affiant that charges are necessary to ensure safety of the victim and her unborn child.”

Current Status of the Suspect

Geary is currently detained at the Washington County Jail without the possibility of bond. He faces several serious charges, including:

  • Attempted murder
  • Domestic assault
  • Unlawful use of a weapon
  • Armed criminal action

It remains unconfirmed whether the suspect has secured legal representation or entered a formal plea at this stage of the judicial process. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has not yet provided further commentary on the ongoing case.
