A Relationship Comes to an End

Reports have confirmed that actress Minka Kelly, 46, and Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds, 39, have ended their four-year relationship. News of the breakup began circulating on Wednesday, October 7, following reports from several media outlets.

Looking Back at Their Connection

The couple's romance began in 2022 after being introduced by a mutual friend shortly after Reynolds' divorce from Aja Volkman. Their bond started in an unconventional way, as they began sharing their creative projects—Kelly’s memoir, Tell Me Everything, and Reynolds’ work on the band’s Loom album—before they had even met in person.

Reflecting on this unique start, Reynolds previously shared how impactful it was:

“I think it helped us both kind of understand each other on a deeper level quickly. It was a really strange and awesome way to meet someone because I was hearing all her life stories from youth to now... Getting to read it all before you even meet somebody… I’ve never had that kind of introduction to someone.”

Public Appearances and Support

The duo first sparked public interest in November 2022 when they were seen dining together at an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. Throughout their relationship, they frequently supported each other's endeavors, including Reynolds making a surprise appearance on Kelly's Netflix series, Ransom Canyon. Kelly noted at the time that Reynolds was instrumental in her preparation for the role, helping her learn to play the piano.

As recently as July, Kelly shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram for Reynolds’ birthday, writing:

“Thank you for making ordinary days feel extraordinary, for making me laugh until I can’t breathe, and for loving so deeply and so freely. Celebrating you is one of my favorite things to do. I love you, Dan. Happy birthday.”

Background

Before his relationship with Kelly, Reynolds was married to Aja Volkman from 2011 to 2024. The former couple shares four children: 14-year-old Arrow, 9-year-old twins Gia and Coco, and 7-year-old Valentine.
