Shamin Abas, the longtime girlfriend of disgraced former 'Today' anchor Matt Lauer, has reportedly threatened to leave him if he does not propose, according to a Globe source. "He keeps finding excuses to wriggle out of a proposal," the insider revealed, noting Abas is at a "real crossroads" after years of waiting.
The public relations professional began dating Lauer in 2019, following his firing from NBC over sexual misconduct allegations and his subsequent divorce from Annette Roque. Despite standing by him through ongoing scandals, including a recent graphic tell-all from an accuser, Abas's patience is wearing thin.
"Shamin's sacrificed so much to support Matt, putting her entire reputation on the line," the source explained. "She's stuck around because he promised her a future together, which for her means marriage." However, Lauer is reportedly hesitant, fearing a repeat of his costly divorce settlement.
"Matt's burying his head in the sand, hoping the marriage talk will go away," the source said, suggesting he does not want to risk another significant financial payout if the relationship fails.
