A New Chapter for the Couple

Lily Collins and her husband, Charlie McDowell, are embracing the joys of parenthood following the arrival of their first child in January 2025. The couple, who celebrated their wedding in September 2021, opted for a surrogate to expand their family three years after getting married.

In a joint announcement shared on social media earlier this year, the pair introduced their daughter to the world, stating: «Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell.»

Addressing Public Scrutiny

Shortly after the birth, the couple found themselves defending their private journey to parenthood against online criticism. Addressing those who questioned their decision, McDowell took to social media to advocate for empathy and understanding regarding the use of surrogacy.

«It’s OK to not be an expert on surrogacy. It’s OK to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child. It’s OK to not know the motivations of a surrogate regardless of what you assume,» McDowell wrote. «And it’s OK to spend less time spewing hateful words into the world, especially in regard to a beautiful baby girl who has brought a lot of love into people’s lives.»

He concluded his message with a touch of humor, noting that he had to wrap up his response to tend to his newborn's diaper change.

Cherishing Family Moments

Now, the family of three is soaking up the sights during a serene European vacation. Collins has been documenting these special memories, highlighting their transition into life as new parents while exploring abroad.
