Jessica Simpson and her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, recently had an unexpected and awkward encounter on a flight from Los Angeles to Hawaii. Both were traveling with their respective spouses and were seated in first class, according to sources.
Despite the close quarters, the former couple reportedly tried to avoid each other for the entire flight. A source told TMZ that Lachey turned 'bright red' upon realizing Simpson was on board, and from then on there was 'zero interaction.' Simpson even switched seats within her group to distance herself.
However, another source told PEOPLE that Simpson, Lachey, and his wife Vanessa Lachey ultimately had a 'nice,' 'amicable, and cordial' conversation during the journey.
Simpson and Lachey were married from 2002 to 2006 after starring in the MTV reality series 'Newlyweds.' Simpson later married Eric Johnson in 2014 but announced their separation in early 2025. Lachey married Vanessa in 2011.
