Incident Overview

A disturbing incident in Florida has resulted in the arrest of a couple after their two-year-old child was discovered walking unsupervised on a dimly lit road late at night. Johnny JeanBaptiste, 36, and Stacia McMillian, 32, now face charges of child neglect without great bodily harm, according to information provided by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Discovery of the Child

The situation came to light when a passing driver contacted emergency services at approximately 11:30 p.m. The motorist reported spotting the young child alone in the middle of Jones Road, situated near Talisi Loop in St. Cloud. The driver acted quickly to secure the child's safety. While the toddler was found crying and visibly frightened, officials confirmed that the child did not suffer any physical injuries.

Interaction with Law Enforcement

Following the discovery, a deputy attempted to contact the father, JeanBaptiste. Authorities allege that he initially hung up on the officer and subsequently blocked the deputy's number. When contact was eventually re-established, JeanBaptiste claimed that he and McMillian were at a store and would return home shortly.

The parents arrived at their residence around 12:30 a.m., roughly an hour after the child was found. Upon questioning regarding their whereabouts, the pair reportedly provided minimal information, citing only that they had been involved in an argument and had gone to a store. Law enforcement officers noted that both individuals appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and officers alleged that McMillian was laughing during the investigation.

Ongoing Investigation

The child has since been placed in the care of a family member. In addition to the criminal charges, the Department of Children and Families has launched an investigation into the matter. At this time, it remains unclear whether the parents have obtained legal counsel or entered pleas. Representatives from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office stated they had no further details available regarding the case.
