A Shift in Leadership Behind the Scenes
The recent reports regarding a significant change in the leadership of the Yellowstone spinoff, Dutton Ranch, have been acknowledged by those involved. Executive producer Christina Voros recently shared her perspective on the departure of showrunner Chad Feehan.
Speaking about Feehan’s contribution, Voros praised his efforts in developing the narrative framework, stating:
“He did an exceptional job building a world of adversaries for Rip and Beth.”
While acknowledging the creative foundation laid by Feehan and his writing team, Voros remained reserved regarding the specific internal factors that led to his exit, noting that the details surrounding his departure were beyond her scope of comment at the time.
Focusing on the Future of the Spinoff
The production, which centers on the lives of Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) as they transition to life in Texas, features a robust ensemble cast. Alongside the core leads, the series stars Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Jai Courtney, Natalie Alyn Lind, Marc Menchaca, Juan Pablo Raba, and J. R. Villarreal.
Although reports suggested that dissatisfaction with production management rather than the scripts prompted the change, the cast members have not issued public statements regarding the transition. The series continues to expand the Yellowstone universe, which has seen growth following the conclusion of the original flagship show in 2024.
Taylor Sheridan’s Evolving Creative Path
Meanwhile, creator Taylor Sheridan remains busy with a slate of projects including Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, and Tulsa King. Following the merger between Paramount and Skydance, it was announced in late 2025 that Sheridan secured a major five-year agreement with NBCUniversal.
This new deal, slated to commence in 2029 following the expiration of his current obligations to Paramount, will see Sheridan developing entirely new intellectual properties. Paramount will maintain ownership of the existing Yellowstone franchise and its established spin-offs. Currently, Dutton Ranch remains available for viewing on Paramount+ on Fridays.
