A Strategic Shift in Storytelling
Antonio Cipriano, one of the stars of the Prime Video series Off Campus, has voiced his support for the production team’s decision to deviate from the chronological order of Elle Kennedy’s original novels. While this change means his character, John Logan, will have to wait longer to become the central focus, the actor views the delay as a positive development for his performance.
In a recent interview, the 26-year-old actor expressed confidence in his growth within the role. «I feel like I’m now officially ready to take that leading role,» Cipriano stated. «It took two seasons for me to get here and feel this way, but now I’m ready to lock in.»
Adapting the Briar U Universe
The production team behind Off Campus has confirmed that the television adaptation will rearrange the source material. Specifically, the second season will be based on the third book in Kennedy’s series, The Score. This narrative arc will spotlight Briar Hawks defenseman Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis, portrayed by Stephen Kalyn, and Allie Hayes, played by Mika Abdalla.
Although a third season has not yet been officially ordered by Amazon, it is widely anticipated that it would adapt the second book, The Mistake. That installment focuses on the budding romance between the Hawks forward John Logan (Cipriano) and incoming freshman Grace Ivers, played by India Fowler.
Chemistry and Character Development
Cipriano appreciates the extra time the scheduling shift provides, allowing him to further develop his character before taking center stage. Regarding his fellow cast members, he noted:
«It’s a good thing, I think. Getting to watch Belmont [Cameli] and Ella really start this momentum and then Stephen and Mika stepping up in season 2, they’re so brilliant at what they’re doing and it inspired me a lot.»
Looking ahead, audiences can anticipate a strong connection between John and Grace. Cipriano shared that his working relationship with Fowler was seamless, adding that it was «pretty evident right away that she was perfect» for the role of his onscreen love interest.
Furthermore, upcoming episodes are set to explore the complex relationship between John and his sibling, Jules—a character specifically created for the television series. The show is currently slated for release on Prime Video in 2027.
