The Dark Deception of a Federal Official

In June 2016, Michelle Hadley found her life turned upside down when she was arrested following accusations of harassment and stalking directed at her ex-boyfriend, Deputy U.S. Marshal Ian Diaz, and his spouse, Angela Diaz. For nearly three months, Hadley languished in prison, facing the threat of a life sentence for crimes she did not commit. It would eventually emerge that Hadley was not the predator, but rather the victim of a sophisticated frame-up.

The Root of the Conflict

The relationship between Michelle and Ian began in 2013. The couple’s transition to cohabitation was swift, resulting in the purchase of a home in Anaheim, California. Hadley contributed a significant $15,000 as a down payment toward the property. Tensions escalated in 2016 when the couple began reporting anonymous, threatening emails sent from an account dubbed “Lilithistruth.” Ian and Angela immediately pointed the finger at Hadley, claiming she was terrorizing their household.


The Fabricated Campaign of Terror

An investigation later uncovered that Ian and Angela were the masterminds behind the harassment. Their primary motive was to force Hadley to forfeit her financial stake in the home they had purchased together. To achieve this, the couple:

  • Created numerous fake digital profiles using Hadley’s identity.
  • Posted and replied to “rape fantasy” advertisements on Craigslist to lure strangers to their residence.
  • Staged elaborate “hoax sexual assaults” to provide false evidence for police reports.

According to court documents, Ian Diaz actively pressured law enforcement to pursue Hadley, stating at one point: «At what point does this girl get arrested for sending this s* and hiring guys off Craigslist to rape [Angela]?»


Justice and Legal Fallout

In June 2016, following a 911 call from Angela claiming she had been assaulted, police arrested Hadley on felony charges of stalking and attempted forcible rape. However, digital forensics eventually debunked the Diaz couple’s claims by tracing the “Lilithistruth” accounts directly to Angela. The evidence proved that Hadley had never stalked the pair.


In January 2017, the charges against Hadley were dismissed, and Angela Diaz was subsequently arrested. Angela later pleaded guilty to 10 felony counts, receiving a five-year prison sentence. Hadley filed a lawsuit, alleging that local police had been manipulated by the power of a federal officer. Her legal complaint noted: «They appear to have willingly become Ian Diaz’s weapon in his tortious campaign to ruin the life of his ex-girlfriend, plaintiff Michelle Hadley.»


In April 2021, Hadley reached a confidential settlement with the city of Anaheim. Following the successful prosecution of those who framed her, Hadley expressed her relief to the press, stating that the outcome «brought so much peace to my family and restored some of the faith we lost in the justice system.»
