In the months leading up to her death, Hayden Panettiere felt a pressing need to set clear boundaries with her former partner, Brian Hickerson. According to internal sources, the actress took proactive measures to ensure her safety, which included the hiring of private security personnel to remove Hickerson from her property and prevent further unauthorized access.
“She supported him sporadically because he manipulated her emotions, insisting he was attempting to rehabilitate his life but was hindered because she had previously reported him to authorities,” a source noted. “However, he consistently exploited her kindness and refused to depart, which eventually led her to bring in professional security.”
Patterns of Surveillance and Intimidation
Reports indicate that Hickerson, 37, had deeply embedded himself in Panettiere’s life, often through unwanted surveillance. During a period when he resided at the actress's Los Angeles home, Panettiere reportedly discovered that he had installed cameras throughout her private residence.
The situation became so volatile that the homeowners' association at her condominium building felt compelled to issue warnings to other residents regarding Hickerson’s behavior. Furthermore, neighbors expressed significant alarm, with one individual claiming that the atmosphere surrounding the apartment was frequently terrifying. While officials spoke with Brian and his brother, Zach Hickerson, at the scene, law enforcement quickly determined there were no indications of foul play. An autopsy further confirmed that there were no signs of trauma that contributed to her passing. Regarding the ongoing investigation, Brian Hickerson’s attorney, Sloan Ellis, stated: “Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed. Out of respect for Hayden’s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.”
