A Trip Down Memory Lane
Taylor Swift is embracing her inner child. The 36-year-old superstar took to social media on Friday, June 5, to unveil a piece of rare footage from her youth, coinciding with the debut of her latest track, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” featured in the Toy Story 5 soundtrack.
The nostalgic clip showcases a young Swift dancing with infectious energy, dressed in a playful ensemble that features a cowboy hat, boots, and a distinctive denim skirt with red detailing.
The Inspiration Behind the Music
The new single, created in partnership with longtime musical collaborator Jack Antonoff, is a country-infused homage to Jessie, the beloved cowgirl character who first captured hearts in Toy Story 2.
Expressing her gratitude for the project, Swift shared, “Thank you to the brilliant [director] Andrew Stanton for imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film. Thank you to the incomparable [composer] Randy Newman for the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores you’ve meticulously woven over the years. You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.”
A Passion Project
For Swift, the collaboration was deeply personal. She noted, “By we, I mean myself and my pal Jack Antonoff. We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods.”
Looking Ahead
Swift originally hinted at her involvement in the Disney-Pixar animation on June 1, following a series of mysterious social media teasers from the studio. Fans can look forward to hearing the track when Toy Story 5 hits theaters on June 19.
