Public Reaction to Tell-All Comments

Taylor Frankie Paul has publicly addressed the recent revelations made by her former fiancé, Doug Mason, concerning their relationship during the filming of her unaired season of The Bachelorette. Following the release of an interview on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, where Mason discussed their time on the show, Paul hinted via Instagram that she and Mason maintain a positive relationship despite their public split and broken engagement.

The Shadow of a Past Relationship

In the first part of a two-part podcast series, Mason, 28, spoke openly about the difficulties he faced while pursuing a relationship with Paul, 32. He explicitly mentioned the challenges of being frequently compared to Paul's former partner, Dakota Mortensen.

Recalling a specific group date, Mason remarked:

“I could not escape the Dakota comparisons. I walked that day. … Everything that we had up until that point was genuine and true.”

He further elaborated on his feelings, suggesting that his role in the relationship felt secondary: “I think over time I realized that I was the replacement for that two-month period. And the reason that’s true is because as she says, the night that she left the engagement, she went back to Dakota.”

Context of the Unaired Season

The production of the season was halted shortly before its scheduled premiere in March 2026, following the surfacing of a 2023 domestic dispute involving Paul and Mortensen. Within the narrative of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Paul has been candid about her journey, admitting that she reconnected with Mortensen—with whom she shares a two-year-old son—shortly after returning from the reality show's set.

Regarding her initial experience on The Bachelorette, Paul reflected on her connection with Mason, noting: “He was the one that I liked from night one. There was instant chemistry. The entire time, I didn’t think we were going to ‘get engaged,’ per se, but then at the last minute, he did propose and I said yes.” Eventually, Paul confirmed that she ended the engagement with Mason following further complications in her personal life and interactions with others during the season.
