Heavy metal giants Slipknot have officially confirmed that they are no longer affiliated with DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson. The announcement was made through an official statement shared on the band’s Knotfest Instagram account on August 14. “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the post stated, adding, “We wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
While the update was briefly hosted on the band’s primary website, it was removed shortly after being published, according to reports from various music outlets including Stereogum and Rolling Stone.
Recent Appearances and Confusion
The parting of ways comes as a surprise to many fans, as Wilson, 49, had identified himself as a member of the group as recently as earlier this week. While co-hosting the World Scratch Invitational, Wilson addressed the audience saying, “What’s up ya’ll, Sid, DJ Starscream/#0, from the world famous Slipknot, how ya’ll doing tonight.”
Personal Turmoil Following Split with Kelly Osbourne
The departure follows a period of intense public scrutiny regarding Wilson's private life, particularly his broken engagement to Kelly Osbourne. On August 3, Osbourne took to social media to express frustration, appearing to target Wilson with pointed remarks about taking personal accountability.
In a series of Instagram Stories, Osbourne wrote: “Strange how the loudest defense of the guilty is rarely innocence… It’s distraction. When the mask slips, they don’t face the mirror they throw it at someone else.” She continued by emphasizing her need to move forward, stating: “Wake the f up and take some responsibility I will not take your s anymore! I’m done. I want to be happy and I have a beautiful son to raise. Leave me alone. Let me heal.”
At the time of those social media posts, representatives for Wilson did not respond to requests for comment regarding the allegations made by his former partner.
