Ryan de Nino, a former participant of the reality television series Married at First Sight, has passed away at the age of 40. According to reports, a family member confirmed that the reality star died “suddenly” in New Jersey earlier this week. The family has chosen not to disclose further details regarding the cause of his passing.
Family Tribute
Ryan’s sister, Melissa, shared an emotional tribute on Facebook on August 11, accompanied by a collection of personal photographs documenting their lives from childhood to adulthood. The post received an outpouring of condolences and support from those who knew him.
One commenter wrote: “Oh my gosh, my heart breaks hearing this. I am so incredibly sorry, he was so funny and witty and the world was lucky to have him.” Another friend noted, “Melissa everything you said about your brother is true. Incredible potential with a great heart. I miss him so much.”
Reality TV Journey
Ryan de Nino gained public recognition during the second season of Married at First Sight, which was filmed in 2014 and broadcast in 2015. On the show, the business owner was paired with law firm receptionist Jessica Castro. Their time on the program was marked by significant interpersonal friction.
While Jessica initially expressed optimism about their union, stating, “I come from a family of long successful marriages. The word ‘divorce’ just doesn’t fall into my lifestyle,” the relationship ultimately deteriorated.
Post-Show Turmoil
Following the conclusion of filming, the couple’s relationship became increasingly unstable. Jessica ultimately ended the union amid allegations of infidelity. Furthermore, she secured a protection order against de Nino after he allegedly made verbal threats against her, including incidents that occurred during the production of the show's reunion special.
During the reunion, de Nino was captured on a live microphone saying, “She’s fking dead. When I get back to Brooklyn, she’s fking dead, this girl.” In response to these threats, the production company, Kinetic Content, provided Castro with a security detail.
At the time, Kinetic Content released a statement regarding their involvement, noting that while they conduct extensive background and psychological evaluations of participants, they cannot govern the personal conduct of individuals once the production process concludes.
