As fans of Elin Hilderbrand’s popular novel Five-Star Weekend watch the television adaptation, many have noted several departures from the original source material. However, actress Harlow Jane, who portrays Caroline, believes these narrative shifts are effectively strengthening the story and setting the stage for a compelling second season.

In a recent discussion regarding the show's evolution, Jane remarked: «There are a couple things that I do miss from the books and there are some things that I like. I think that ultimately, the changes that they have made will probably make for a much juicier season 2 if it were to happen. So I would be excited to see how that plays out in the long term.»


The Narrative Core of 'Five-Star Weekend'

The series, which streams on Peacock, follows the story of food influencer Hollis, played by Jennifer Garner. Following the tragic loss of her husband, Matthew, Hollis brings together a diverse group of friends—Tatum, Dru-Ann, Brooke, and Gigi—at a Nantucket retreat. Amidst this gathering, Hollis's daughter, Caroline, arrives at the family home, forcing her to grapple with both her personal grief and a strained relationship with her mother.


Looking Toward Season 2

While an official renewal for a second season has not yet been announced, Harlow Jane is already envisioning future possibilities for her character. Reflecting on her own experiences, she expressed a desire to see Caroline explore new territory—both literally and emotionally.

  • New Locations: Jane suggested shifting the setting, humorously mentioning Greece as an ideal backdrop for a future installment.
  • Personal Growth: Following Caroline’s complicated involvement with Aubrey’s partner in the first season, Jane is hopeful for a more genuine romantic arc for her character.

«That would be sweet,» Jane shared regarding a potential new love interest. «I think Caroline is at a phase in life that is so interesting to be a girl. She’s, I think, 18 in season 1. She’d be around 19 in season 2. 19 is hard. 19 felt like the end of the world every single day. But it was also so happy and so great and I was learning so much about myself. I guess I would like to see some of that on the screen.»
