Legal Dispute Over Custody
Former UFC champion Chuck Liddell has initiated legal proceedings against his ex-wife, Heidi Liddell, alleging that she kidnapped their 14-year-old daughter, Guinevere. The 56-year-old athlete has submitted an emergency custody petition to the court, seeking full legal and physical custody of the teenager.
According to reports, the conflict arose on August 14, just days before the new school year was set to begin. Chuck Liddell claims that his ex-wife relocated their daughter to her home in Orange County without authorization, with the alleged intent of preventing her return to his care.
Allegations of Court Order Violations
In the filed documents, the MMA legend asserts that Heidi Liddell disregarded multiple existing court mandates. These alleged violations include:
- Failure to utilize the mandated co-parenting communication platform.
- Using their children as intermediaries for communication.
- Preventing Guinevere from attending her scheduled extracurricular activities.
- Ignoring established court-ordered custody schedules.
Chuck Liddell maintains that these actions were taken because his ex-wife realized she would not receive judicial approval to relocate their children—Guinevere and their 13-year-old son, Charlie—prior to the start of the autumn semester. He is now requesting that any future visitations between Heidi and the children be strictly supervised to avoid further parental alienation or abduction risks.
The Defense: Counter-Claims and Safety Concerns
Heidi Liddell has firmly denied the kidnapping allegations, characterizing the situation as a response to their daughter's own wishes. In statements provided to media, she claimed that Guinevere requested to be taken away from her father.
«For the past 5 years after our divorce, Chuck has been obsessed with staying in my life and trying to control me,» she stated, further alleging that the children «don’t feel safe speaking up to him at this point.»
In her official court response, Heidi Liddell indicated that she does not consent to the emergency custody request. She also addressed her financial situation, noting that she has been unable to retain legal counsel due to costs. Furthermore, she alleged that residing with her father has caused Guinevere «severe anxiety and mental distress,» stating that the teenager refuses to return to her father’s home because she does not feel secure there.
A court hearing regarding this matter is set to take place on August 24.
